 When using Winzip make absolutely sure that there are no pre-existing instances of sky20011019.zip or sky20011019.exe files on the network of which your copy of Winzip is aware. (200Xxxxx is a date based numbering scheme for our source files. sky20011019 refers to the source version as of 2001/10/19.) If Winzip thinks it has information about pre-existing zip files, even when you create new archives it tries to stuff them with files listed in same named archives.

How to Zip and distribute timeLines to download sites

Work from the Upgrade folder on \\dev\G\Upgrade. Right click on the Upgrade folder from the Windows Explorer and select Add to Zip, openning WinZip:



Not doing the obvious, click the Cancel button which will display the interface below.



Now make a New archive by clicking the New button and supply the ZIP file name, sky20011019, and hit the OK button.



Add all the files from Upgrade, for example, by browsing to \\dev\G\Distributions\sky20011019.zip, and clicking the Add with wildcards button (with Include subfolders checked).



After clicking the Add with wildcards button you will see all the files listed as follows:



From the File menu run the Move Archive command and browse to the \\dev\G\Distributions\Zipped directory (appearing as T:\Distributions\Zipped due to my local mapping of the network drive) and click the OK button.



From the Actions menu, choose Make.exe file. Make.exe converts sky20011019.zip into a self-extracting file, e.g., sky20011019.exe, which can be downloaded and installed.

Suggest a folder (in the web site) where the sky20011019.exe will self extract to. Be sure to uncheck the Overwrite by default checkbox to insure that the user will be prompted for file overwriting.



You will see a final dialog box as follows:



Close this display and the remaining Winzip display. Now use WS_FTP Pro to transfer the files to our ftp download sites (Interland, Galaxy).

Download the files, extract them and test in some safe place.
