SEARCHA Intake Fan Replaced

HOSTSA had a failing intake fan which has been replaced.

Not from inside the box: 2004/08/23 - Cleaned and moved to slot 2 the original 512 KB and added new PC133 512KB, now 1 GB total. The board D815EEA2 is no longer supoprted by Intel.

Additional note: On board vidoe chip may be on its way into failure. Seemed problematic while on the bench.

Addendum 2: The VGA problem disappears when replaced into the rack, suggesting a possible issue with the bench KVM. The VGA problem is inconsistent accross computer platforms, which is why it appears to local to each computer. However, it now seems that the issue actually may a voltage tolerance (wrong word?) matter between the KVM interface and various computers. It seems that this problem has been pronounced in the older 2U installations, perhap the desktop boards (and maybe the early server boards) only.

The former DEVB machine, a tower, has been respun to be a new Linux archiver, replacing former SKYVAULT3 machine, which is a 2U with a bad onboard video chip. This new SKYVAULT2 unit will archive mail servers and services machines. It compliments the web server Linux archiver, SKYVAULT1. (The Radeon 7000 video card by ATI caused a boot failure on the former 2U, SKYVAULT3 using FC5.)

SKYVAULT2 tower contains the following: Memory: 512 M; CPU 900 MHz Celeron; OS: Fedora Core 5 (kernel 2.6.15); HDDs: hda Samsung SP0822N (80 G), hdb Samsung SP1604N (160 G), hdc DVD RW, hdd Maxtor 4R1200L0 (120 G).
